A tragic loss. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dave for the past 14 years and and will miss his candor and sense of humor. He was genuine and always tried to do the right thing, regardless of who was watching.
He was a true hero of the fire service and we will all miss him.
What a loss for the Verde Valley and the fire service. Dave was the kind of man who epitomized the fire service; he was truly there to help others before self. A kind soul, Dave will be sorely missed.

I met Dave at The University in 1972 (I think). He became one of a group of friends who keep up with each other to this day. I am going to miss him.

I met Dave thru my Significant Other who is also a part of the group of friends mentioned just previously. As a “groupie” coming into this Group of Friends and not knowing any of them, I was made completely at home, and Dave was a major reason. What a wonderful guy. He is missed a great deal already.

Dave was one of the first professionals that I met when I started my fire career in 1987. He has been a friend and collegue since. I was shocked to learn of his passing. My personal sympathy and that of the Veron Fire District go out to all of you and dave’s family. Our flags will remain at half staff for this week to honor Dave and Barry.

I met Dave on the day of my oral boards with Cottonwood Fire–about 18 years ago. He was so nice to me that day, making that ordeal a little easier. As a matter of fact, I always remember Dave being a nice guy! What a tragic loss. I feel very lucky to have worked with Dave and wish to offer my sympathy to Dave’s family.

What a horrible tragic loss! Dave was a wonderful person. We attended Paramedic School together in 1989 and stayed in touch. I was so shocked to hear about this and offer my prayers and sincere deepest sympathy to Dave’s family and friends as well as the loss to the city of Clarkdale and Clarkdale Fire Department.

Always gracious, accepting, and encouraging. When I shook John Conways hand in August ‘97, Dave happened to be around and mentioned I could do ride-alongs with him… he didn’t know I would cling to him for the next few years! I always looked up to Dave, and Dave never looked down at me! What a guy! Thanks for being my friend all this time and our recent chats at Safeway:)

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the members of the fire department and family.
This is a tragic loss in all of our lives. I first met Dave at a trailer fire in the middle of the night in Clarkdale back in 1985. Dave got hired by cottonwood Fire in 1987 where I followed him around learning as much as could from him. What a great guy, teacher, mentor, and friend. He will greatly be missed by.

I’ve known Dave for over thirty years and even though we lived so far apart I’ve always considered him a close friend. We are both Florida natives but Arizona is where his heart was. I worked there back in the 70’s and Dave showed me places that only the magic of Arizona could offer. Dave’s passing will forever leave an empty place in my heart and his memory will forever bring a smile to my face.

Dave will be missed by so many, not the least will be Lynne and I. For all the rest of you Verdey Valley fire people we think of you often, but are still very glad to be retired and living in Mexico.

As a Board Member for Verde Valley Fire Dist., I met Dave just recently at a few Clarkdale Fire Board meetings. I did not know Dave for the many years as so many of his other friends and colleagues; however, the Fire Service remains a brotherhood like no other. Sincere condolensces to his family and fellow Fire Dept. members and friends. His loss is deeply felt although the relatioinship was so short. God’s blessings and love to Dave and family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave’s family and his brothers and sisters in the department. Even when he was not taking class he would stop in to say hi and see if we needed anything. All of us at Wizard Education want to express our sincere condolences.
